GAS: Theft leaves witness stunned

| April 17, 2011 10:00 PM

Gas station cameras were intended to catch customers who drive away without paying for their gas. Imagine my horror when at 12:34 p.m. at the Crossroads Gas station (Highway 95 and Highway 54) in Athol on March 11 I witnessed the state inspector test a gas pump for accuracy and rather than re-deposit the gas into the station's main reservoir he drove off toward Spirit Lake.

I contacted the state of Idaho Department of Agriculture concerning what I witnessed but I was told to mind my own business.

What kind of employees does the state of Idaho hire and keep? In this era of high unemployment with hard working Idahoans are looking for work why is this employee able to keep his job when he is stealing from hard working business owners? It doesn't take a great imagination to figure out what happens to the gas after it is driven off in the back of a state of Idaho truck.

Why doesn't the state of Idaho care what its employees do? Are they above the law?
