Faire weather is guaranteed
Great news! The forecast for tomorrow is clear and warm, with temperatures around 70 degrees expected. People will be happy and treated well. Nobody will be bored or sullen.
Did we mention the forecast is restricted to the inside of Lakes Magnet Middle School?
Under the guidance of teacher Dave Eubanks, sunny, warm and happy is the only option. For the second consecutive year, Eubanks has organized the Multicultural Faire, featuring performances, arts, crafts and food from around the world.
Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and the sun will set on this rendition of international fun at 2 p.m. In between? More joy than a free entrance fee should permit.
Eubanks, recipient of a heart transplant four years ago, recognized a long time ago that there's something beautiful in almost every person of every culture. Much of that beauty will be on display tomorrow in a cultural smorgasbord provided by local people.
The lineup of countries and cultures that will be represented includes American Pioneers, The Coeur d'Alene Tribe, Britain, Ireland, Bolivia, Egypt, Germany, Norway, Ukraine, Italy, the Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, Israel, Hungary, Japan, France and Mexico. We should probably toss in Texas, since line dancers from a local restaurant will perform.
Vendor booths will offer reasonably priced ethnic food selections: Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Irish, Japanese and German. If you leave the Multicultural Faire hungry, perhaps your taste buds' horizons could use a little broadening.
Last year's event took place almost a month later, and the gymnasium at Lakes got a bit too warm. We're expecting a perfect atmosphere tomorrow and invite you to come and make the experience even richer.
