Arthur 'Chief' Adams
Arthur "Chief" Adams passed away Friday, April 8, 2011, in Coeur d'Alene. He was born in Butler, Pa., in 1929.
Arthur spent much of his early life on the East Coast before moving to Canada in the 1970s. After visiting the Inland Northwest, retirement landed him and his wife of 52 years in Coeur d'Alene in 1994.
Locals will remember Chief Adams as an avid outdoorsman with a warm heart and helpful hand. For many years, he acted as Industrial Arts superintendent for the North Idaho Fair. An engineer by trade, he utilized his professional skill set in his hobby of carpentry and woodworking.
After the death of his wife Anna Marie in 2005, he fulfilled a lifetime dream of building a log cabin in the woods of North Idaho. The cabin became his favorite place and stands as a legacy to the great man who built it.
He is survived by his four children, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and countless "adopted" children along the way.
Chief served our country during the Korean War as a sergeant in the Army Engineering Corp.
A ceremony celebrating his life will be held in Coeur d'Alene over the Fourth of July weekend, anyone wishing to attend are encouraged to contact Arthur's son Pat for details.
English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
