| September 30, 2010 9:00 PM

The Idaho Writers League recently held its state conference at the Best Western Coeur d'Alene Inn.

This yearly get-together is an opportunity to listen to speakers that will increase their writing skills.

"We are in writers' paradise here in the Pacific Northwest, and we were able to gather all of our speakers within a radius of 50 miles," said Mary Smith, Coeur d'Alene chapter second vice-president.

The league, which is 70 years old, has six chapters in Caldwell, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Sandpoint and Twin Falls.

The Coeur d'Alene Chapter meets every second Wednesday from 9 a.m. until noon at the Jewett House. On the third Thursday the meeting is 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Church of the Master, Ramsey Road and Kathleen. Beginning to advanced writers are welcome. The meeting consists of a speaker, a short business meeting and a critique session.
