A new exercise facility has opened in Dalton Gardens, in a location where two others were located in recent years. Also, a home furnishings franchise outlet is scheduled to open early next month in Coeur d'Alene, owners for both businesses said.

Razor's Edge Training Center and Boot Camp Academy, in Dalton Gardens, has opened and is offering group training classes, personal training and exercise equipment.

The new business is owned by John Caylor, who has 20 years of experience working in nutrition and personal training. Caylor said he has 140 members at his new gym.

He is leasing 4,000 square feet of space at 5648 N. Government Way, next to Helmet Outlet USA. The owners of Helmet Outlet USA own the building.

The space Razor's Edge is in was previously occupied by work out centers Fusion Fitness and Iron Temple. Before that it was JB Wholesale, which sold discounted food.

"It's been a dream of mine all my life," Caylor said of starting the business.

He owned Top Notch Sports Nutrition, in Hesperia, Calif. He also managed a different nutrition store and did personal training.

He will run the fitness boot camp classes and will do the one-on-one personal training at Razor's Edge. He said Monica Lang will run the cardio-kickboxing classes. He also will offer a cardio-for-kids class twice a week for kids ages 6 to 13.

Couple Mike and Kristin Moore, of St. Maries, are opening a franchise outlet of Real Deals on Home Decor, in Coeur d'Alene, early next month.

The Moores will be operating in about 2,500 square feet of leased space at 625 W. Dalton Ave. The new business will sell home furnishings. The Moores don't plan to hire employees at this time.

The store will be open two days per week, Thursdays and Saturdays. The doors open on Oct. 7.

Kristin Moore said having the store open only twice per week should create more urgency in customers. It also will keep overhead costs down, she said.

She said visits to the Lewiston and Spokane franchise outlets sparked her interest in opening the store.

"With the market here, it looks like it's going to do really well," she said. "It's not a box store, it's small and intimate."

Mike Moore said, "Based on the success of the approximately 70 Real Deals on Home Decor franchises throughout the country, we're optimistic and excited about our future here."

She said she anticipates many of the Coeur d'Alene-area customers will be young families, retirees, college students, and people seeking to furnish second homes.

It will sell clocks, wall art, mirrors, furniture, lamps, pottery, candles and other decor.

Kristin Moore spent the last 10 years working in insurance. Mike Moore is a line machine operator in the logging industry, and will continue that work.
