SELECT SOCCER

Coeur d’Alene Sting under-10 girls (Anderson): The Sting beat the Idaho Thunder 6-1 in Hayden last Thursday. Breanna Torres scored three goals and Sydnee Rud, Havalah Scott and Tess McPhilomy scored one goal each for the Sting. Sydnee Rud had two assists and Jordan Roth one assist.

Sting U13 girls (Roop): The Sting shut out the Sandpoint Strikers (Sleyster) U14 girls 6-0. Goals were scored by Halle Eborall (2), Josee Bassett (2), Mikinzie Hague and Julia McCaw. Josee Bassett is credited with an assist. Samantha Lane and Camryn Wendlandt teamed in goal for the shutout.

Sting U11 girls (Engebretsen): The Sting tied the RCSC Foxes ’99 Red 1-1, with Bridget Rieken making the lone goal. Capriel Halliday and Bailey Swoboda teamed in goal for 11 saves.

The Sting shut out the Shadow Breakers ’99 (DelRosario) 4-0. Goals were scored by Anna Hilbert (2), Lily Scott and Kaitlin Hunter. Georgia Henkle had an assist. Capriel Halliday and Bailey Swoboda teamed in goal for the shutout with seven saves.

Sting U10 boys (Chelsea): The Sting beat the Bentley Nighthawks (Lakeland) 7-0 last Thursday at Hayden Meadows. Docker Bond scored three goals, Taylor Mongan two, and Cameron Dance and Tyler Shaw scored once each. Assists came from Cameron Johnson, Denton Meijerink, Taylor Mongan and Docker Bond.

Sting U10 boys (Barcelona): The Sting won its second regular season game, defeating the Idaho Thunder 3-1. Keaton Murphree, Noah Cobb and Cameron Johnson scored one goal each. Aiden Hassel had 2 saves. Last week they shut out VYSA Shell 11 to 0 with 1 goal each scored by Joey Fraser, Cameron Johnson, and Trevor Rau. Spencer Messina put in 2 goals and Keaton Murphree and Jared Hoffman each had a hat trick. Spencer Messina also had one assist and Aiden Hassel and Cameron Johnson each had a save.

Sting U10 girls (McCaw): The Sting beat the Sandpoint Strikers 10-1 on Monday night. Brynna Richmaond and Katie Venera each scored two goals for the Sting.

Idaho Thunder U11 boys: The Thunder won the Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint Sept. 11-12. The Thunder beat the Coeur d’Alene Sting 4-0, the Missoula Strikers 5-0, the Sandpoint Strikers 2-0 and, in the finals, the Strikers again 5-1.

Nick Morris, Braden Claflin, Gabriel Nazemi, Caleb McCluskie, Carson Noordam, Chase Cripps, Zach Nall and Jacob Pfennigs scored goals in the tournament for the Thunder. Zach Nall and Kyle Sanchez combined for three shutouts and one goal allowed in the tournament.

JV SOCCER

The Coeur d’Alene boys lost to Moscow 3-2 on Sept. 18. The Vikings went up 2-0 in the first half on goals from Kenny Brown and Jake Sweeney. Sweeney assisted on Brown’s goal and scored on a follow up on his own shot.

Last Thursday, Coeur d’Alene won 2-1 at Post Falls. Riley Yedinak scored for the Trojans in the first half. The Vikings tied the game on a penalty kick from Carson Simon, and took the lead when Carson Simon scored off a carom from a shot by Colin Koss.

The win improved the Vikings’ record to 4-2-4.

LITTLE LEAGUE

Post Falls meeting: The Post Falls Little League will hold its end-of-the-season meeting Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Pizza Factory, Mullan and Highway 41 in Post Falls.

Officers for the 2011 board of directors will be elected.

COEUR d’ALENE RECREATION

Boys, girls basketball: Registration is Oct. 1-8 for grades 3-8 boys and girls basketball leagues. The program is set to begin around Oct. 25 and run through December. Games and practices are held weekdays and Saturdays at local schools. Cost is $26 for city residents and $31 for non-city residents.

Registration is at the Coeur d’Alene City Hall, 710 Mullan Avenue. Sponsors and coaches are also needed.

A 9th/10th grade boys basketball program will register Nov. 1-19 and play December through January.

An 11th grade boys basketball program will register Dec. 27-Jan. 8 and begin the middle of January.

K–2nd grade boys and girls basketball leagues will register Jan. 3-12 and run end of February through March.
