Donald Byron Wiley

Donald Byron Wileypassed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 9, 1922, in Wauneta, Neb., to Leslie Cleveland and Minnie Ethel (Terry) Wiley. He was one of 10 children. He married Betty Jean Trautman Sept. 17, 1942. He was a Browning automatic rifle specialist and spent seven months in a German concentration camp, due to the wounds he received carrying out that duty. He received several commendations, including the bronze star and several purple hearts. He retired from the Idaho State Department of Highways and was an active member of the Catholic Church and remained faithful to the end. All who witnessed his death were edified by his peace of soul.

He is survived by two of his children: Terry Wiley of Spokane Washington and Rene' Williams of Phoenix Arizona.

He leaves six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The Rosary and viewing was held at Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls Idaho, Tuesday the 28th of September at 5 p.m. A Sung Requiem Mass was offered Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. Mr. Wiley will be interred at Saint Joseph's Cemetary, Trentwood, Wash.
