Yep, it feels like home

| September 24, 2010 9:00 PM

This extreme makeover doesn't just look good.

It feels good.

As clients, staff and visitors will soon discover, the House to Home project being completed today at TESH Inc., is an amazing collaborative effort that spans the entire community.

The project, in combination with state and local grants, coordinated a group of architects, contractors and volunteers who provided supplies and labor at virtually no charge to TESH. The renovations include:

n Improving the entrances at TESH, 3327 W. Industrial Loop in Coeur d'Alene, so clients, family members, caregivers and visitors can more easily identify how to enter the campus.

n Covering the entrances and walkways as protection from inclement weather.

n Creating safer and more convenient pick-up and drop-off areas.

n Painting the interior and exterior.

n Planting trees to make the campus more inviting.

You'll be reading more about the project tomorrow, but today we wanted to single out someone whose efforts made the entire thing possible. His name is Kent Adams. Not only is Kent a new board member at TESH, but he also happens to be executive producer of the House to Home program on KAYU Fox 28. With Kent's assistance, TESH became the second nonprofit to be featured on the show.

To illustrate the community-wide spirit that went into this project, two former adversaries are joyful partners in promoting TESH, one of our region's most important nonprofits because its focus is on helping thousands of North Idahoans with disabilities reach their greatest potential in life and at work. Kent's Fox TV station and Time-Warner Cable endured a bitter contract dispute not so long ago, yet Time-Warner is on the front lines assisting with the TESH House to Home project and promoting it with Fox - all for the greater good not just of TESH, but of the entire community.

We applaud the TESH staff and board of directors, as well as the many volunteers and contributors who made this impressive project possible. We encourage viewers to tune in to Fox 28 to see the TESH transformation. Here's the tentative schedule for airing the 30-minute special:
