A multiple-vehicle, chain-reaction collision caused two people to be hospitalized with minor injuries Thursday afternoon.

Idaho State Police responded to a 2:08 p.m. crash on southbound Highway 41, near Prairie Avenue in northeast Post Falls.

A Ford Ranger driven by Dereck Collinson, 29, of Rathdrum, was struck by a 2004 Pontiac driven by Janelle Russell, 41, also of Rathdrum.

Two other vehicles - driven by Lisa Warner, 47, of Spirit Lake and Cheryl Bauman, 44, of Rathdrum - also were involved in the accident, police reported. Fault has not been determined.

Collinson and Russell were taken to Kootenai Medical Center.

Police said the crash, which remains under investigation, blocked Highway 41 for about 90 minutes.
