Rugby tourney scheduled for

Saturday at Hayden Meadows

HAYDEN - The 10th annual Kootenai Cup rugby tournament, consisting of 10 teams in the men's division and four in the women's division, is scheduled for Saturday at Hayden Meadows Elementary.

Play is scheduled all day on three fields, beginning at 10 a.m. The championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m.

ArenaBowl MVP Rowley

to return to Shock

SPOKANE - Quarterback Kyle Rowley, who set the single-season franchise record for passing yards (4,428) and passing touchdowns (100) in leading the Spokane Shock to the ArenaBowl title last month, has re-signed with the team.

Spokane also added defensive back Terrance Sanders, wide receiver Wes Lyons, offensive lineman Ben Ossai and defensive lineman Jon Williams.

Sanders played last season with the Arizona Rattlers. Lyons spent time with the New York Jets earlier this year after completing his collegiate career at West Virginia. Ossai was in camp with the St. Louis Rams after playing at the University of Washington. Williams spent the 2009 season with the Arkansas Twisters.

Johnson returns; Chiefs

reassign two more players

Former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson has been returned to the Spokane Chiefs from the Minnesota Wild. Johnson is doubtful for Saturday's opener at Tri-City on Saturday night after experiencing an upper body injury while with the Wild.
