Medication turn-in is Saturday

| September 24, 2010 9:00 PM

POST FALLS - Prescription medication that is no longer wanted or used can be turned into police departments at Post Falls City Hall and the Coeur d'Alene Library on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

The purpose of National Pharmaceutical Drug Take-Back Day is to protect the water system and avoid drug misuse.

Medication will be disposed of at an incinerator in Spokane. Participants can take labels off bottles themselves or markers will be provided at the turn-in.

"We'll take any kind of prescription medication, no questions asked," Post Falls Police Chief Scot Haug said.

Haug said local police agencies have decided it would be cost-prohibitive to pursue an incinerator for a local transfer station, which was earlier discussed.
