Trojans sweep Sandpoint

POST FALLS — Tori Bertsch had 20 assists and eight digs as the Post Falls Trojans defeated the Sandpoint Bulldogs 25-21, 25-23, 26-24 in a nonleague match at the Arena on Tuesday night.

“It was a well-fought match,” Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. “The scores were fairly tight the last two games. Both teams served tough tonight and played outstanding defense.”

Ashley Jibby had nine kills, Brianna Friebe had five aces and Sierra Monti had three blocks for Post Falls (17-1), which travels to Lewiston on Thursday.

Ariel Moe had eight kills, 12 assists and four aces and Blake Plaster had 16 digs for Sandpoint (4-3), which travels to Lewiston on Saturday.

Coeur d’Alene

COEUR d’ALENE — Jennifer Schuman had 11 kills, three aces and 12 digs for the Timberwolves in a 25-15, 16-25, 25-22, 25-18 win over the Vikings in a 5A IEL match.

“I thought we put up a good team effort tonight,” Lake City assistant coach Laura Tolzmann said.

Camille Rounds had 31 assists and Madi Farrell had five blocks for Lake City (6-5, 2-1 5A IEL), which hosts Sandpoint on Tuesday.

Kylie Curtis had 11 kills, Amy Norris had 10 digs and Ashley Hammons had 11 assists for Coeur d’Alene (7-11, 0-4), which hosts Moscow on Thursday.

Lakeland

RATHDRUM — Shaniqua Nilles had 13 kills for the Eagles in a 25-16, 25-12, 25-21 win over the Hawks in a nonleague match.

“I was quite pleased with the way our team played,” Lakeland coach Claudia Ebel said. “We just need to work on some things offensively. We’ve been improving with not making mistakes in recent matches.”

Kaitlyn Whitesitt had eight kills, Erin Ogden had 18 digs and Sonora Wilkes had 13 assists for Lakeland (1-13), which hosts a tri-match with St. Maries and Riverside on Saturday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Joelle Miller had 13 kills for the Knights in a 25-21, 25-17, 25-16 nonleague win over the Panthers at Holy Family Catholic School.

“We didn’t play as aggressive as we can tonight,” Lakeside coach Jan Mitchell said. “We played a nice match and the girls did well after being off a few days.”

Kyndra McCully had five kills and Jennifer Mitchell had eight aces and 21 assists for Lakeside (4-1), which travels to Kootenai on Thursday.

Emily Verhaeghe had 10 kills and five digs, Brianna Marshall had 14 assists and five aces and Alexia Young five digs for Coeur d’Alene Charter (0-10), which travels to Wallace on Thursday.

“They had a strong night hitting the ball,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Chris Smith said. “A lot of our shutdowns were due to miscommunication on the court.”

MULLAN — Morgan Koenig had five kills for the Tigers in a 25-21, 25-9, 18-25, 25-16 win over the Warriors in a North Star League match at the Pavilion.

Kami McKinnon had six assists and Sydni Kotschevar had seven blocks for Mullan (5-2, 2-2 NSL).

Kootenai (1-4, 0-4) hosts Lakeside on Thursday.
