LABRADOR: Look in mirror, hypocrite

| September 22, 2010 10:00 PM

HYPOCRITE: "One who affects values or qualities one does not have." (Webster's Dictionary).

The Associated Press reported on Sunday, Sept. 19 that Raul Labrador accused U.S. Rep. Walt Minnick of being a hypocrite solely because he and his wife legally adopted a child from China and lovingly brought her into a good home. Mr. Labrador uses offensive language when he bases his attack on Mr. Minnick's "foreign born child." This is shameful, particularly coming from one who makes his living helping immigrants, legal and otherwise.

Perhaps the most offensive portion of Labrador's conduct is crossing all ethical lines by attacking the family of his opponent. The children of President Obama, as well as all past presidents, have been considered off base for political comment and have been shielded from publicity. Ethical politicians realize that the family of a candidate, in particular the children, are to be protected and kept out of political debate for their own privacy and protection.

Labrador's conduct here should convince voters that he himself is a hypocrite and does not deserve their support to represent them in Congress.
