HUNTING: Article misrepresents sport

| September 22, 2010 10:00 PM

In response to the article "We're just proficient at killing animals."

I am deeply disappointed in the author and editor for allowing that story to be written, let alone be published. It misrepresents the art of hunting and does nothing but perpetuate a negative image of the people who live, work and recreate in Idaho.

Hunting, done correctly and in the right frame of mind, is definitely more about the experiences than it is the "kill." To encourage, and seemingly support, the poor attitude the Bruyettes bring to the sport is an abomination and is extremely poor journalism. I'm positive every true sportsman agrees with my opinion.

I encourage everyone to pick up a copy of Robert Ruark's book "the Old Man and the Boy" (1953) if they find themselves confused by what I'm trying to say. In there, they can find out more about the true spirit of hunting and fishing than is found in this pitiable article.
