POST FALLS - Pascal Academy, a new private school with an emphasis on math and science, has opened in Post Falls at 6165 Commerce Loop next to Aspen Nursery.

The school offers grades K-12, but it currently has 17 children enrolled in grades 2 through 9.

"Pascal Academy was started in order to teach children how to reason well so that they can enter into any profession and be a strong Christian influence in their field," said David Ronald, school director, a parent and teacher.

Ronald said that while it's a Christian school, it is open to anyone who signs its faith commitment.

The school, which is governed by a board, is in the process of becoming a nonprofit. It pays rent for the building it occupies.

The school has five full-time teachers and one part time.

Tuition is $2,500 per year for kindergarteners, $3,500 for grades 1-6 and $4,000 for grades 7-12.
