Brady Bunch Brunch to benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children

| September 21, 2010 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - The Greenbriar Inn and 315 Martinis and Tapas Restaurant, 315 E. Wallace Ave., will host "A Brady Bunch Brunch" to benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children on Sunday.

Seating will begin at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The goal is to raise enough funds to cover one month of operating expenses for CASA, a program that currently serves more than 450 abused, neglected or abandoned children in North Idaho.

"It's a family event," said Cathy Shortridge, event chairwoman. "We also want the children in the community to understand what CASA is."

Chef Kris Mcilvenna, owner of the Greenbriar Inn, will provide a buffet featuring an omelet and crepe station. There will also be an adults-only terrace bar, entertainment for children and a raffle with prizes, including limited edition artwork by Stephen Shortridge, dinners at Texas Road House and memberships at 360 Fitness.

Dean Smith will play music during the brunch.

"We're trying to focus on the positive things that CASA does," event coordinator Alexander Endo said. "It's a fun event. We needed to start doing more to really try to help these children."

CASA is court-mandated, Endo explained, and it does receive grant money, but the program must raise funds itself in order to stay operational.

Reservations are required for the event. The cost is $25 for adults and $12.50 for children. All raffle proceeds and 50 percent of the admissions revenue will go directly to CASA.
