Jean L. Lanter, 90

Jean L. Lanter, 90, passed peacefully from this life on Sept. 16, 2010, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene. Born Dec. 3, 1919, Jean was raised in Hailey, where she met her husband, Lorenzo "Boots" Lanter. They were married May 12, 1941.

After working at the local bank in Hailey for a short time, Jean became a full-time mother to their son and three daughters. In 1964, after living in several parts of Idaho and Washington, Boots, Jean and family moved to Post Falls where she resided until her death.

Boots retired in 1984 after which he and Jean spent several winters in Yuma and traveled extensively in their motor home. Jean was active in the Rebekah Lodge and the Good Same Club. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping, needle-work, reading and watching sports of all kinds. Jean also enjoyed the family gatherings, particularly the times when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Martyn and Elva; her husband, Boots, and two brothers, Jim and Bill.

She is survived by her sister, Ann; son Robert; daughter Kathy; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Charles, Janie and Hank, 10 grandchildren 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Evergreen Cemetery, 2834 North Spokane St., Post Falls. All friends are welcome.
