James E. Porter, 81

| September 20, 2010 2:28 PM

James Edward Porter, 81, went to be with the Lord following the loss of his beloved wife of 58 years, Margie, just 3 1/2 weeks earlier. Jim died in his home in Coeur d'Alene on Sept. 18, 2010. Margie was always the love of his life, his best friend and he didn't want to live without her.

Jim was born June 30, 1929, in Los Angeles, Calif., to James A. and Bessie L. (Reitz) Porter. He graduated from Alhambra High School in 1948. Jim was married to Margie Ann on May 23, 1952, and they had two children, Debra A. Machado and James E. Porter II.

He enjoyed being a member of the Coeur d'Alene Bible Church and Monday Night Football with the guys, but most of all he loved being with his family. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and will be missed.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Debbie Machado and husband Terry; his son, James E. Porter II and wife Linda; grandchildren, Kenneth Machado (Jenna), Lee Ann Griffin (Mike), Sharman Peterson (Ken), James Porter III and Jack Porter; great-grandchildren, Dilan, Rylee, Taylor, Madison and Margie Ann; one sister, Nona Brockman: and a sister-in-law, Karen Flatt (John).

The family would again like to thank April, Arin and Kent from Hospice of North Idaho for the love and care they gave to us all and prefers memorial donations to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
