Raymond Amos, 75

| September 19, 2010 10:00 PM

Raymond Laverne Amos, 75, of Kennewick, died of cancer at home with his family at his side on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010. Raymond was born Oct. 5, 1934, in Lafferty, Ohio, to Clarence Francis and Mary Amos. Raymond and his wife, Irene, knew each other since junior high school and shared 53 years of marriage. He served in the Navy as a naval electrician. Raymond was a semi-retired residential contractor. They moved to Kennewick two years ago from the Coeur d' Alene area where they lived for 33 years.

Ray was a man of integrity, quietly demonstrating his moral values to his family which was the most important part of his life. He was always loving, caring, and ready to help - our "Mr. Fix It." Ray loved hunting, fishing, camping, and bowling. Doing those things with his family made it more special. Still working at age 75, he derived much satisfaction and pride in his work, always adding a personal touch, instilling in his children strong work ethics.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Irene; and children Lorrie, of Portland, Ore.; Ruth and Raymond, of Athol; Steven, Linette, Carrie, all of Kennewick; 19 grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Pap Pap"; 10 great grandchildren; brothers Clarence and Robert; and sisters Jane, Katherine, Patricia.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters: Agnes, Nettie; niece: Natalie; and nephew, Michael.

Memorial services will be held at Post Falls Cemetery, at 2700 N. Spokane St., at 2 p.m. Sept. 27. An open house will be held at the American Legion, 1138 E. Poleline Ave., in Post Falls, from 3-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Olympics, one of Raymond's favorite charities or a charity of your choice.
