Freshman Demi Wignot had one goal and one assist in the second half of the 14th-ranked North Idaho Cardinals beat host Northwest College 3-0 on Saturday in Powell, Wyo.

Nicole Medeiros and Hayley Smith each added goals for NIC (4-2-1).

VOLLEYBALL

NIC splits at CSI tourney: The Cardinals lost to Frank Phillips (Texas) 14-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 15-12 and beat Navarro (Texas) 25-21, 21-25, 26-28, 25-19, 15-8 to finish 3-1 at the Starr Corporation Invitational in Twin Falls.

Tina Strahinic had 34 kills on the day for NIC, including 21 vs. Navarro. Fei Gao totaled 26 kills, and had 14 digs vs. Navarro. Gabriella Rifilato had 98 assists, Kyona Hunt 57 digs.

NIC returns to Twin Falls on Saturday to open Scenic West Athletic Conference play at Southern Idaho.

NIC men open fall season with win: The Cardinals posted a 295-301 win over Whitman at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco, Wash.

NIC returns to action on Oct. 3 and 4 at the Cardinal Invitational at Avondale Golf Club.
