David Everingham, 61

David T. Everingham, of Careywood, Idaho, past away on Sept. 8, 2010, in Alaska, while on an anniversary cruise vacation with his wife, Ginny. He was 61 years old and was born in Virginia before his family moved to California. He moved with his wife and daughter to North Idaho more than 35 years ago and built a home in Careywood, where his son was born.

Right out of high school, he worked as a HOTSHOT crew member fighting forest fires for the Forest Service in Southern California, and he then served in the Army from 1969 to 1971. After moving to Idaho, he graduated from North Idaho College as a certified auto technician in 1978. He then worked as an auto mechanic at various locations in North Idaho for many years and lastly at Taylor Parker Motor Company in Sandpoint for nearly two decades. He and his wife Ginny also managed the café at Ray's Place in Athol during the mid 70s.

He is survived by his wife Ginny of 38 years; his mother Marguerite of Hillsboro, Ore.; his son David Jr. and wife Alicia; his daughter Mary; his grandson Maxwell and fiancée Maddie; his grandson William; his granddaughters Layla and Taylin; as well as his great-granddaughter Grace, all of North Idaho; his brother John and his wife Tressa, both of Hillsboro, Ore. He was preceded in death by his father, John.

Dad - You loved working in your gardens, helping your wife fulfill all of her dreams, tinkering in your shop, helping your neighbors, riding your Harley-Davidson, a blue joke, a great limerick and any grand vacation adventure, but most of all your family. You were always a happy soul, but happiest when you were with your family and in arms length of hugging us. Your big wide grin, ever open arms and easy laugh, along with your never-ending grace and warmth held us together. We love and miss you beyond words. We are truly blessed to have had you, to love you and to be loved by you.
