Post Falls girls play Sandpoint to tie

SANDPOINT - Aubree Mercier's equalizing goal in the 16th minute proved to be the final tally as the Post Falls Trojans tied the Sandpoint Bulldogs 1-1 on Thursday at Centennial Field.

Hannah Slinkard had nine saves in goal for Post Falls (4-3-3), many in the second half as the Bulldogs (2-6-3) mounted a number of attacks.

"When you come up to Sandpoint, it's always going to be a rough game," Post Falls coach Becky Thompson said. "It's nice to come out of here with a tie."

Post Falls plays host to Lewiston on Tuesday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Timberwolves junior varsity goalkeeper Nick Wells had 12 saves in a win over the Lumberjacks at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

"We had plenty of opportunities today," St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. "We had some mistakes in the back. We were in the match and had a lot more offense than we've had all season. We just didn't have any goals."

Judd Sempel had 10 saves for St. Maries (1-5-3), which travels to the Sandpoint JV on Saturday.
