Police investigate battery case

| September 17, 2010 9:00 PM

Coeur d'Alene police detectives are investigating a battery that occurred on Aug. 22 at 12:15 a.m. in the outside seating area of Pita Pit, 320 E. Sherman Ave.

Patrol officers that responded to the reported fight spoke to several adults standing around the sidewalk area.

Witnesses said an adult man was seated at an outside table on the sidewalk when he was hit. The witness believed the altercation started when a woman sitting at the table with the victim said something to the suspects as they were walking by.

The witness said he saw an unidentified man pick up a chair and hit the victim in the face with it. The witness also said another man started kicking the victim while he was on the ground. The victim did not know the men who attacked him.

Medical personnel were called to the scene but the victim declined medical attention at that time.

According to the victm's mother, who contacted the police department a few days later, her son sustained extensive injuries to his face and mouth.

Detectives obtained surveillance camera footage from Pita Pit.

If anyone can identify the subjects in the photos, they are asked to contact the Coeur d'Alene Police Department at 769-2320.
