Mallon latest recommendation for vacant Hauser council seat

HAUSER - Hauser Mayor Olita "Oly" Johnston will recommend that former Hauser mayor Gary Mallon be appointed to fill the City Council seat vacated by Ed Peone.

The council will consider the recommendation on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

The recommendation will be Johnston's third for the seat as council turned down Carol Spuler and Dave Nall earlier, both on 2-1 votes.

Mallon was Hauser's mayor for three and a half years in the early 1990s and is retired from the military.

Peone, who was Hauser's mayor for 14 years and spent six total years on the council during three different stints, resigned last month, citing family illnesses.
