| September 16, 2010 6:19 AM

Coeur d’Alene Police detectives are investigating a battery of a 29-year-old female that occurred on Sept. 12 at 9:30 a.m. in the 6700 block of North Courcelles Way. The victim stated she was jogging on a dirt road that she described as the east side of the tree line, at the north side of Skyway Elementary, and north of the soccer field.

She said she heard someone behind her and started to turn around. She stated a male suspect pushed her from behind. The victim said she fell to the ground and the male grabbed her around the left shoulder and her head, and turned her toward him. The victim said she was able to get on her feet and hit the suspect with her hands several times.

The female said the male took off running due to a car approaching. She described the suspect as a white male, 20 to 30 years of age, 6’2, average build, short dark brown hair, unshaven, wearing a yellow shirt and red running shorts.

The victim sustained slight abrasions to her knee and the palm of her hand.

Detectives have followed up on leads but no suspect information has been developed. It is unknown if this was a sexually motivated attack, but due to the aggressiveness of the suspect the Police Department is advising females to be alert, and take all safety precautions while exercising outdoors. Coeur d’Alene Police detectives are investigating a battery that occurred on August 22nd at approximately 12:15 am. The battery took place at the outside seating area of Pita Pit at 320 E. Sherman. Patrol officers that responded to the reported fight spoke to several adults that were standing around the sidewalk area. Witnesses stated an adult male by the name of Nicholas Casqueiro was seated at an outside table on the sidewalk when he was hit. The witness believed the altercation started when a female sitting at the table with the Nicholas said something to the suspects as they were walking by. The witness said he saw an un-identified male pick-up a chair and hit Casqueiro in the face with it. The witness also said another male started kicking Casqueiro while he was on the ground. Casqueiro did not know the males that attacked him.

Medical personnel were called to the scene but Casqueiro declined medical attention at that time. According to Casqueiro’s mother who contacted the police department a few days later, Casqueiro sustained extensive injuries to his face and mouth.

Detectives obtained surveillance camera footage from Pita Pit. Attached to this release are photos of the possible suspects. If anyone can identify the subjects in the photos they are asked to contact the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at 769-2320.
