SELECT SOCCER

Coeur d'Alene Sting under-11 girls (Dupree): The Sting won its division at the Pend'Oreille Cup in Sandpoint on Sept. 11-12.

The Sting beat the Ferocious Cupcakes 4-1 in their first game with Abby Ellison scoring two goals and Kai Wellsandt and Riley Brown scoring once each.

In the second game the Sting beat the Idaho Thunder 4-0, with Abby Ellison scoring twice and Megan Drake twice.

On Sunday they beat the Kootenay Rovers 5-0, Megan Drake scored twice, and Abby Schrontz, Grace Kirscher and Riley Brown each scored once.

In the championship game they beat the Sandpoint Strikers 1-0, with Abby Schrontz scoring the winning goal.

Sting U12 girls (Walker): The Sting went 3-1-1 and placed second in last weekend's Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint.

In the first game, the Sting beat the Sandpoint Strikers 2-1 with goals by Lily Brott and Brooklyn Cunningham. In the second game they played to a scoreless tie with the River City Foxes (Green).

In the first game on Sunday, the Sting bounced back to beat the Missoula Strikers 1-0 on a goal by Kelsie Mattis. On Sunday afternoon, the Sting beat the Missoula Strikers Black 5-1 on goals by Brooklyn Cunningham and Campbell Brack.

In the championship game, the Sting lost to River City Foxes Red 1-0.

Sting U10 boys (Chelsea): The Sting took second in the Pend Oreille Cup this past weekend in Sandpoint.

In the first game the Sting defeated the Sandpoint Strikers 4-0. Docker Bond scored a hat trick, Noah Cobb scored once, and Docker Bond, Noah Cobb, Jason Lukes and Bennett Cunningham all had assists. Later that day the Sting beat the Idaho Thunder 4-1 with goals by Denton Meijerink, Docker Bond, Jason Lukes and Noah Cobb, and assists by Noah Cobb and Bennett Cunningham.

On Sunday morning the Sting defeated the Lakeland Nighthawks as Denton Meijerink had a hat trick, Tyler Bond added two goals, Docker Bond one. Jason Lukes had an assist.

In the title game the Sting lost 5-1 to the Sting (Barcelona). Chelsea's lone goal was scored by Tyler Shaw with an assist from Cameron St. Croix.

Sting U10 girls (Anderson): The Sting lost their first match at the Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint to the Kootenay Rovers 7-0, and lost their second to the Spokane Foxes Soccer Academy 4-0.

In the consolation round on Sunday, the Sting fell 4-2 to the Coeur d'Alene Sting (Roberts). Sydnee Rud and Lexi Medina each had a goal and an assist for the Sting (Anderson).

JV SOCCER

Coeur d'Alene boys: The Vikings improved to 3-1-3 with a pair of wins last week.

On Sept. 9 the Vikings won 5-0 at Lakeland. Carson Simon scored twice, and Alex Odenthal, Colin Koss and Christjan Wilde (penalty kick). Koss also had an assist.John Williams posted the shutout.

On Saturday the Vikings beat the Lewiston Bengals 10-0 at Canfield Middle School. The Vikings scored three times in first half on two goals by Cristjan Wilde (assist to Koss) and one by Simon (Koss).

The Vikings scored seven times in the second half on four goals from Sean Palmer, (two assisted by Wilde), Simon (assist Christian Johnson), Kenny Brown (Wilde) and Roman Kleng (Koss). John Williams posted the shutout with seven saves.

JV CROSS COUNTRY

Silverwood Coaster Cross: Ryan Richardson of Timberlake finished sixth in a field of 286 runners in the boys race. He finished the 5,000-meter race in 18 minutes, 6.2 seconds. Timberlake's boys finished fourth.

Sam St. Mars of Timberlake was 17th in 18:35.2, and Gavin Peterson of Kellogg was 20th in 18:44.3.

In the girls race, Michelle Booth of Post Falls placed 10th in a field of 183 runners in 22:31. Ivory Pellerin of Post Falls was 17th in 23:06 and Ashley Acosta was 19th in 23:08. Post Falls was fourth.
