Central Valley slips past Vikings

SPOKANE - Amy Norris finished with 32 digs for Coeur d'Alene, but the Vikings fell to Central Valley 25-16, 22-25, 22-25, 25-20, 16-14 on Monday in nonleague play.

"I thought it was a good matchup," Vikings coach Carly Curtis said. "Amy did a good job digging and we got Kylie back from a knee injury and she helped us with our offense and getting some rhythm back."

Kayla McGlathery had nine blocks, Kylie Curtis six kills, Ashley Hammons eight assists and two aces and Maddy Seaman added two aces for Coeur d'Alene (6-4) which participates in the Volleyball for the Cure match tonight at Post Falls High at 7.

ST. MARIES - Eric Opland scores unassisted for the Hawks in a nonleague match.

"We came up pretty flat in the first half," St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. "But in the second half we played better."

The Lumberjacks (1-4-3) travel to Coeur d'Alene Thursday to take on the Lake City junior varsity. Lakeland (1-7) hosts Lewiston on Wednesday.
