David 'Dave' R. Wolfert, 75

Dave Wolfert, 75, of Harrison; husband, father and friend died Sept. 9, 2010, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene. He was born May 23, 1935, in Stoneham, Mass., to John and Alice Wolfert.

Dave is survived by his wife, Barbara whom he was married to for 52 years; daughter JoAnne Tombari; son John R. Wolfert and two grandchildren, Christie and Brian Tombari.

Dave received his Bachelor of Science degree in Fishery Biology from the University of Maine. He retired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1994 after 35 years of service on the great lakes. Dave was very active with the East Side Fire Department in Harrison, spending 15 years volunteering as Captain, Training Officer, Inspector and Firefighter. Dave also served the people of the East Side Fire District with his grant writing abilities allowing the department to purchase much needed equipment.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel; followed by a gathering at Fire Station No. 2, 20338 S. Hwy. 97, Harrison.
