Coeur d'Alene High School was locked down this morning after the remnants of three explosive devices were found near the school's football field.

City police department spokeswoman Sgt. Christie Wood said her agency's school resource officer stationed at CHS reported the discovery of one of the devices just before 10 a.m. The find prompted authorities to keep staff and students inside classrooms while the entire campus was swept by law enforcement officers.

The police search revealed two more similar devices, which Wood described as crudely constructed and covered with electrical tape.

All three of the explosives had been previously detonated, with no reports of injuries or evidence of property damage.

Wood said a review of incoming police call logs shows a telephone report of an explosion heard at 7:39 p.m. Wednesday in the vicinity of the school.

The campus was reopened at 11:15 a.m.

Wood said police detectives will review surveillance footage as part of their continuing investigation. There are no suspects at this time.
