KNIFVES meeting is today

A weapons expert and stuntman will offer insight into what happens in those fast-paced, heart-stopping action scenes in movies at today's KNIFVES meeting at the Greenbriar Inn.

Will Parks, firearms expert and owner of Adventure Dynamics, will talk about using weapons in movies, the actors, directors, and screenwriters who got it right, and the ones who failed - and why. He'll include examples from scenes of well-known films.

John Casino has been a working stuntman since 1974 and lives in Post Falls with his family.

The Northwest Independent Film and Video Entertainment Society meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Greenbriar Inn, 315 E. Wallace Ave. Lunches will be available to order off the menu.

Sweetwater Bakery to open on Tuesday

Sweetwater Bakery, a retail and wholesale operation with 25 employees, will open on Tuesday at 119 E. Third Ave. in Post Falls.

Tuesday's grand opening from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. will include free samples and coffee. Tours will be available from 5-6:30 p.m.

The business sells pastries, bagels, cupcakes, scones, muffins and cookies from its retail storefront and to coffee stands, restaurants and other businesses.

Owners Tom and Sandy Vas Dias moved the company after more than six years in Spokane. Hours are 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. seven days a week.

White awarded SRES designation

Kelly White with Century 21 Beutler & Associates has been awarded the Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation by the Seniors Real Estate Specialist Council of the National Association of Realtors.

White joins more than 16,000 real estate professionals in North America, 11 in Coeur d'Alene, who have earned the SRES designation. All were required to successfully complete a comprehensive course in understanding the needs, considerations, and goals of real estate buyers and sellers aged 55 and older.

Chamber appreciation day set for today

The Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce's annual membership appreciation day event will be from 4-7 p.m. today at the chamber office. The event is open to all current chamber business members and their employees.

There will be food, beverages and member booths.
