| September 7, 2010 9:00 PM

HAYDEN - The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department is currently investigating a missing persons report for two individuals who were last seen leaving Camp Mivoden on Hayden Lake.

On Monday at 9:05 a.m., deputies contacted campers at Camp Mivoden at 17415 E. Hayden Lake Road.

It was reported Virginia L. Acker, 64, Pasco, Wash., and Gary E. Otterness, 40, Onalaska, Wash., were at the camp as part of a church retreat. Virginia and Gary left the location on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. They left on Gary's 1985 Honda CB650S motorcycle, which has a blue gas tank cover.

As Monday morning, Acker and Otterness had not returned as the rest of the group was preparing to leave the camp. The two were still missing at 7 p.m. on Monday night, according to the sheriff's department.

The initial investigation shows they intended to return to Camp Mivoden. Due to a cell phone trace, Kootenai County deputies have been searching area roadways for a possible accident involving the couple and their motorcycle.

Kootenai County deputies, Kootenai County Search and Rescue and Spokane County's Air 1 helicopter continued to search the area roads and embankments into the evening.

Acker is a white female, 5-foot-6, and approximately 135 pounds with white hair.

Acker was last seen wearing tan Capri pants and a blue tank top.

Otterness is a white male, 6-foot-1, approximately 178 pounds with brown hair. Otterness was last seen wearing dark jeans and ink color button-up shirt and black boots.

Those with information are urged to call the sheriff's department at 446-1300.
