Indians take playoff lead

YAKIMA, Wash. - Andrew Clark hit a bases-clearing single to right field in the seventh inning to help the Spokane Indians past the Yakima Bears 5-1 in the first round of the Northwest League playoffs before 703 at Yakima County Stadium on Monday night.

Ryan Strausborger scored on Michael Olt's first-inning groundout after a leadoff double.

Clark scored Spokane's second run in the fourth when he walked, moved to third on Joshua Richmond's single and crossed the plate when Santiago Chirino grounded out to second.

Five Indians pitchers combined to hold Yakima to eight hits.

Game 2 of the best-of-three series will be tonight at Avista Stadium with game time scheduled for 6:30.
