COEUR d'ALENE - Following a one-year break, a luncheon to pray for state and local leaders is returning to Coeur d'Alene under a new name.

The State Leadership Prayer Luncheon is set for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Best Western Coeur d'Alene Inn.

The keynote speaker will be Mark Moder, executive director of Youth Dynamics.

"The goal is to lift up our leadership in prayer," said Jeri DeLange, chair of the event's committee.

What was once referred to as the Governor's Prayer Luncheon was last held here in 2008. Organizers said it became difficult for the governor to attend due to a busy schedule, so it was decided to change the name.

On Saturday, there will also be a lay challenge speaker, Scripture reading, student testimony, music and fellowship. The response will be given by Ron Crane, Idaho state treasurer.

Organizers note "this is not a political or church event."

The prayer luncheon generally attracts about 200 people of all faiths.

Along with prayer for those in public offices, DeLange said they want to "encourage everyone to follow God's leadership."

Tickets are $18 each. Sponsorships for the event are $175 and include a table of eight, program recognition and sponsorship acknowledgment during the luncheon.

The deadline to reserve tickets is Thursday.
