Creation Conference is today

| September 4, 2010 9:00 PM

It might be that humans are the result of evolution.

Or they might be the result of a greater design, says Pastor Paul Van Noy of Candlelight Christian Fellowship.

That's why the church is hosting a Creation Conference today, featuring three speakers comparing the creationist theory to the evolution theory.

"We think it's an important topic. Young people especially need to be informed about the truth behind the biblical view of creation," Van Noy said. "Our belief that God created everything provides a foundation for our world view."

The conference runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Candlelight Christian Fellowship, at the corner of U.S. Highway 95 and Dalton Avenue. It is free and the public is welcome.

The morning will feature speaker Russ Miller, discussing Darwin's theory and the age of the planet. Pete Greer will speak at 12:30 on a biblical view of dinosaurs and more. The final presenter at 3 p.m. will be Dr. Rick Oliver, discussing faith without excuse.

Miller is the founder of Creation, Evolution and Science Ministries out of Flagstaff, Ariz., that teaches about creationism and evolution.

Oliver has Ph.D in evolutionary biology. A creationist scientist, he is the CEO and founder of Confound the Wise Ministries based in Tonto Basin, Ariz.

Greer was a high school biology teacher for 33 years and now travels and teaches with Oliver.
