Cards win one, lose one at tourney

SALT LAKE CITY - North Idaho College opened the Mariott Residence Inn Volleyball Invitational with a 25-15, 25-21, 24-26, 23-25, 15-12 win over Northwest CC (Powell, Wyo) on Friday.

Tina Strahinic led NIC with 27 kills, Kaylee Ponce added 14 and Kyona Hunt recorded 16 digs.

In their second match, the Cardinals (4-3) fell to Eastern Arizona 25-22, 25-22, 19-25, 28-26.

Strahinic had 33 kills and Gabby Rifilato added 36 assists.

The Cardinals finish the tournament today with a 9 a.m. match vs. Northeastern CC and a 1 p.m. match vs. Western Arizona.
