CHALLENGE: Learn about intelligent design

| September 3, 2010 10:00 PM

A few weeks ago I wrote a My Turn to encourage local schools to teach Intelligent Design along with Evolution. Here's a challenge to all who teach science, sociology, psychology and similar programs in local middle schools, high schools and colleges. This challenge is even more critical for those who set the curricula.

Are you open-minded enough to listen to Dr. Rick Oliver explain why evolution and intelligent design both need to be taught and what the scientific truth is?

Are you willing to bring what you teach our young people and test it with your own reason, science and common sense? If so, there is a free conference at Candlelight Christian Fellowship this Saturday from 9 until 5. Note that it is free.

Here's a link to the flyer:

All three speakers are skilled presenters with extensive scientific backgrounds and the theater setting is perfect for relaxed study of the truth.

From my point of view, all are good. But I'll challenge any to find fault with these credentials: Dr. Oliver has a B.S. in Biology from the University of California-Fullerton and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Biology (Evolutionary Biology) from the University of California-Irvine. He is a member of the American Federation of Herpetoculturalists, the California Science Teachers Association and the New York Academy of Science.

If you are a dedicated educator in any of our local schools and pass on this opportunity, I will be hard-pressed to believe that you truly care about your student's welfare, education or your own integrity.

For those who will send the blog attacks, please address the topic and not me. I'm only the messenger and well aware of my flaws.
