Cd'A dog park set to open Monday

COEUR d'ALENE - The city of Coeur d'Alene's first off-leash dog park will open Monday, and to celebrate its dedication, dog lovers are invited to a barbecue at noon.

The name of the new park, chosen by the Parks and Recreation from?litters of nominations, is 'Central Bark.'

The project was completed with the help of the Kootenai County Dog Park Association, the city of Coeur d'Alene, and School District No. 271. The park is adjacent to Northshire Park on the corner of Atlas Road and Nez Perce. Information: 769-2252.

Northwest MedStar to attend Triathlon

COEUR d'ALENE - Northwest MedStar helicopter and pediatric ambulance will be attending the Kootenai Medical Center Kids Triathlon on Saturday. The pediatric ambulance will be at the event from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The helicopter will be there between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. unless called out for a transport.

Community members, hospital staff and EMS, are invited to tour the Northwest MedStar ambulance and aircraft well as meet the Northwest MedStar crew.

From its bases in Spokane, Tri-Cities and Moses Lake, Northwest MedStar provides over 3,500 helicopter, fixed wing and ground-based transports per year.
