Little to speak at policy summit

COEUR d'ALENE - A summit aimed at strengthening businesses here is coming up later this month.

The 7th annual Legislative Policy Summit is set for noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Best Western Coeur d'Alene Inn, 506 W. Appleway Ave.

The Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce will host the event, one of four being held across the state, in conjunction with the Idaho Chamber Alliance and Lewiston, Moscow, Post Falls, Sandpoint, Rathdrum and Hayden chambers.

The keynote speaker will be Lt. Gov. Brad Little.

The summit will provide a forum to talk about North Idaho business issues through two panel discussions:

• Idaho Tax Policy Panel: Legislators will speak on policies that help or hinder business expansion. The legislators confirmed to participate are: Sen. Jim Hammond, Sen. John Goedde, Rep. Frank Henderson and Rep. John Rusche.

• Business Leader Panel: Business leaders will address what Idaho can do to strengthen the business environment and ensure that the private sector leads the recovery.

The business leaders confirmed to participate are: Joe Morris - CEO, Kootenai Medical Center; Tim Komberec - CEO, Empire Air; Dean Haagenson - CEO, Contractors Northwest; CJ Buck - CEO, Buck Knives; Matt Van Vleet - Director, Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, Clearwater Paper Corporation; JJ Jaeger - The Coeur d'Alene Resort

Cost is $30 for members, $40 for non-members (includes lunch). It is an extra $10 at the door for non-registered guests.
