John A. Earnest Jr., 79

John A. Earnest Jr. went to be with the Lord on Aug. 31, 2010. John was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Roswell, N.M.

He grew up in New Mexico and the west Texas area. After graduating high school, he attended college in Abilene, Texas. While in college, he met his lifetime love, Elizabeth June Earnest. They were married Sept. 20, 1950.

Shortly after they were married, John was drafted into the U.S. Air Force. There he served our country for 22 years, 6 months and 5 days as a tail gunner on numerous bombers. During his time in the Air Force, he and Elizabeth traveled all over the world and raised five children. John was honorably discharged on July 1, 1973, as a Master Sergeant.

After retiring from the Air Force they lived in View, Texas, for a number of years before coming to Post Falls in 1982. Here, John owned his own mechanics shop and sign business. John served on the Board of Elders at Mountain View Bible Church for many years.

John is survived by his beautiful wife, Elizabeth June; his five sisters, Molly, Betty, Patsy, Jane and Sue; his five children, John Earnest III, Robert Earnest, Nora Wink, David Earnest and Kevin Earnest; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John's memorial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at Mountain View Bible Church.
