David Clinton Leer, 57
The love of my life, David Clinton Leer, 57, made his journey home on Sept. 17, 2010.
David was born in Ashton on May 2, 1953, to Clinton and Darlene Leer. David moved from Pocatello to Careywood in 1978 before finally settling in Coeur d'Alene.
David married Shirley Park at Farragut State Park on Sept. 26, 1993.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, before retiring.
Dave loved to write songs and play musical instruments. He also enjoyed driving his cars and spending time at the cabin on the river. He loved the outdoors. This is a poem for David from his sister:
Dear Brother, I missed you when
you joined the big top
you ventured then
I Miss you now, I missed you when
you slept in the jailhouse
while in Wyoming
I miss you now, I missed you when
In a mountain cabin
You raised your sons
I miss you now, I missed you when
at a lakeshore boathouse
you became your own man
I miss you now, I missed you when
by Coeur d'Alene woods
you found your true love
I miss you now, I missed you when
you played your music
on Grandpa's violin
I miss you now, I missed you when
on your own cabin porch
you found yourself peace
I miss you now much more than then
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Leer of Coeur d'Alene; five sons, Markus, Levi, Cody Leer and Jeremy and Jason Phillipe; and two daughters, Jessica Cobb and Jenny Phillipe. He is also survived by his mother, Darlene Elliott; brother Bill Leer and sisters Karen Chengels, Pam Meunier and Sheila Leer and 10 grandchildren.
David is preceded in death by his father, Clinton David Leer.
Dave's ashes will be spread at our cabin down on the river next summer. There will be a time of remembrance, and all who loved him will be invited to celebrate his life next July. The day and time of this celebration will be set at a later time.
