HOMELESS: Left out in the cold

| November 30, 2010 6:19 AM

Where do the homeless go at night when the winds blow chill and the day’s blue sky has turned black, and on a moonless night when the stars can give only twinkling comfort to those suffering the cold wetness of rain and snow, where do the homeless go?

Where do the homeless go at night when the teeming, jostling, work-a-day crowds have gone to the warmth and comfort of their homes, and when the once busy streets have become lairs for midnight’s mischief, and when shivering children watch other children go through doors into warm, lighted rooms, where do the homeless go?

Where do the homeless go at night when the blossoms have bent to winter’s icy blast, and the hoarfrost has etched everything in its wake, and when the leaves – once green and red and gold – lie ravaged like broken hearts on the frosty earth, where do the homeless go? Where do the homeless go at night – and why?
