Florence Marie McCalmant, 89

Florence Marie McCalmant, 89, from Hayden, passed away at home Nov. 26, 2010. Florence was born in Dent to William Kleinsmith and Katherine Schollenberg Kleinsmith.

She graduated from Weippe High School in 1940. She married Ned McCalmant Jan. 6, 1946, in Spokane. They were married 60 years; he preceded her in death in 2006. She worked at Fairchild Air Force Base during World War II as a mail clerk. She lived in North Idaho all her life, the last 55 years in Hayden.

She loved gardening, dancing, handcrafts, reading and travel. She traveled to Europe three times and has been to most of the United States. She was a member of the VFW and a member of the Church of God 7th Day.

Florence is survived by son Ned N. McCalmant Jr. and Dianna McCalmant of Hayden; daughter Sandy Reichhuber and Dennis Reichhuber of Corvallis, Ore.; sisters Dorothy Loomis of Bellingham, Wash., Grace Heath and Gordon Heath of Julietta; many nieces and nephews, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, in Hayden, with burial to follow at Rimrock Cemetery. Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel, has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
