A Post Falls couple was killed when their car slid into oncoming traffic on snow-covered U.S. 95 south of Coeur d'Alene.

Idaho State Police reported that Kenneth Gollnick, 54, was traveling south on U.S. 95 at 4:33 p.m. Friday when he lost control of his 2004 Pontiac Grand Am near milepost 422.

The car crossed into the northbound lane, slid sideways and was struck on its side by a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer driven by John Orvik, 52, also of Post Falls, police reported.

Gollnick and his wife, 48-year-old Joy Gollnick, died from injuries sustained in the collision, police said. Their 16-year-old son, Daniel Gollnick, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Kootenai Medical Center with injuries, as was Orvik.

Their conditions were not available at press time.

The road was snow-covered at the time of the crash, police said. Seat belts were in use by all four victims.
