Vivian Scott, 88

Vivian Louise Scott, of Dalton Gardens, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at Kootenai Medical Center from complications following an automobile accident on Nov. 18th. She was 88 years young. Vivian was born May 2, 1922, in Onida, S.D., to Leo and Ethel Hayes. They moved to Coeur d'Alene while Vivian was of a young age and she finished high school here. She worked as a telephone operator for many years and met and married the love of her life, Kenneth Scott, on Nov. 10, 1949. They were married for 52 years and raised two daughters, Sandra Kaye and Pamela Kaye. In the years following Vivian was employed at the North Shore Hotel.

Mom was the most amazing and special person with a beautiful, happy smile. She loved to knit and crochet and always entered her beautiful afghans in the Kootenai County Fair where she won some ribbons. She loved working crossword puzzles and had quite the green thumb with her inside and outside plants during the summer months. Two of her favorite things to do were going out to eat on Thursday nights, her night off from the kitchen, and hopping into her beloved 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo to go shopping at the local stores. She loved life.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandee Mack and husband, Bill, of Cataldo; and Pamela Whitaker and husband, Sam, of Rathdrum, ID; her sister, Vernetta Schmidt, of Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren, Tim Mack, Brandi VanCleave, Bruce Martin and Angie Harlan; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth Scott. We will all miss Vivian's smile, spunky attitude, independence and her love of life.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at the Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel. Burial will be at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens.
