NIC men ranked No. 1

The North Idaho College men’s basketball team has another reason to be thankful this week.

The Cardinals are ranked No. 1 in the nation in this week’s NJCAA poll.

NIC is off to an 8-0 start, with wins over Miles City, Lake Region, Williston State, Community Colleges of Spokane, two wins over Salish Kootenai, and one each over the North Idaho All-Stars and the Gonzaga University club team.

The Cardinals were ranked third in the two previous polls this season.

Midland College (8-1), the previous No. 1 team, fell to sixth. Hutchinson Community College (8-0) is ranked second, Northwest Florida State College (7-0) is third, Connors State College (9-0) is fourth and San Jacinto College-Central (9-0) is fifth.

The College of Southern Idaho (7-1) is ranked 18th. Salt Lake Community College (7-1) received votes.
