COEUR d'ALENE - A drive to collect items for Christmas boxes that will be sent to military members overseas is under way.

Laura Kuhnhausen, whose brother Mark Young is serving in the National Guard in Baghdad, said they hope to send 120 boxes in early December. She is asking for the community's help and said drop boxes are at Mountain West Bank on Ironwood Drive, the Walmart in Hayden and River City Fab on Seltice.

Items needed include batteries, baby wipes, books, beef jerky, ChapStick, chewing gum, cereal bars and coffee.

Kuhnhausn said they will pack the boxes in early December at the National Guard armory in Post Falls, and then ship them.
