Several lanes of U.S. 95 were shut down for an hour and a half following a two-vehicle collision and fuel spill at the Highway 53 intersection Thursday.
Idaho State Police reported that a semi-tractor truck driven by Bill Haughton, 74, of Coeur d'Alene was traveling east on Highway 53 at 3:44 p.m. and failed to yield at the red light.
A Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Samual Whitaker, 65, of Dalton Gardens, was traveling southbound on U.S. 95 with a green light when he struck the semi at the driver's side fuel tank, police reported.
Thirty gallons of fuel leaked out and was declared a hazardous material spill, prompting the road to be blocked off during clean up.
Neither driver was injured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
