Time to get in sync

There has been a lot of propaganda leading up to this date. Most of us have heard the rumors and a few have seen the movie (a 2009 science fiction disaster film staring John Cusack). Many people believe that 2012 will be a non-event like Y2K.

The year 2012 is the end date of the Mayan (long-count) calendar. The legend of the ancient Maya is that they settled in the jungles of Central America after the destruction of Plato's lost continent of Atlantis. They were said to be ancient astronomers who studied the night skies to predict future events.

The ancient Maya believed in the concept of "as above, so below." They saw everything as being connected. The relationship between the body and the cosmos is reflected in the Mayan numbering system. Our modern system is based on units of 10 while the Mayans was based on 20, the number of your fingers and toes. Along with our fingers and toes, the Mayans also used our 13 major jointed areas (your neck, two shoulders, two elbows, two wrists, two hips, two knees and two ankles.) When you multiply 13 times 20 you get 260, which is the human gestation period. To the ancient Maya, celestial events are related to the human body through the gestation cycle. This is where our birth chart comes from.

The ancient Maya understood that our bodies are linked to the cosmos by our circadian rhythms, which is our 24-hour biological clock that is influenced by the cycles of light and dark. The sun and moon have an effect on our endocrine system of glands of which the pineal gland is a part. This master gland, also known as the "third eye" in esoteric traditions, helps regulate the hypothalamus to secrete hormones that control our metabolism.

Our present day understanding of time is linear (past, present and future). The Maya took a long-term view of time. They saw time as cyclic (generational cycles). Their calendars were embedded with detailed astronomical information that was gained from continuous observation of tracking planets, stars and constellations for centuries. Because of this, they understood synchronicity or meaningful coincidences. They had as many as 20 different calendars, which can be considered as almanacs and they are all interrelated. Our calendar marks the passage of days while the Maya calendars marked the passage days, seasons, solar and lunar eclipses, sunspot cycles, solar flares, aurora borealis, precession of the equinoxes, plus many others.

Our present day calendar is a solar calendar based on the revolution of the earth around the sun and the moon around the earth. Unfortunately, these three celestial bodies do not synchronize very well. Leap year and months of unequal length are prime examples.

We live in a three-dimensional world of length, width and depth with time as the fourth dimension. Mayan timekeeping is based on synchronized alignments of the planets. According to the Maya, there are interlocking cycles, which would seem to indicate that the universe is like a giant machine. This is not the case. The Mayans saw that each celestial body interacted with the whole and influenced the overall pattern. Because we are part of this interaction, the Maya performed religious ceremonies to keep harmony between the material world and the spiritual world. Events were planned to take advantage of celestial alignments.

The Maya left evidence of their cosmology in their architectural structures. There are pyramids, temples and artificial caves. Many of these structures were used as "line-of-sight" observatories of the night sky. Some were encoded with information from their calendars, such as the number of stairs and angles to specific dates. Their cities correspond with the solstices and equinoxes. Clearly, the Maya were aware of the human relationship to the universe.

2012 is about Energy Activation. Science is now evolving to understand spiritual concepts. Newton physics gave way to Einstein's theory of relatively that gave way to quantum mechanics. The earth produces an electromagnetic frequency called the Schumann Resonance (SR). All life on the planet is in sync with the SR, especially human brain waves. Brain wave activity is associated with states of consciousness. Our DNA is being activated to increase our spiritual abilities.

Reunification with nature is the cornerstone to our survival. We don't need prophecies to tell us we are out of sync with nature. The evidence is all around us. Our thoughts got us into this mess and our thoughts will get us out.
