Smith's shooting guides T-Wolves

COEUR d'ALENE - Jasmyn Smith hit five 3-pointers for the 5A Lake City Timberwolves in a 80-45 nonleague win over the 3A Timberlake Tigers on Thursday at Lake City High.

"We came out with a lot of energy tonight," Lake City coach Royce Johnston said. "I was pretty pleased with how the girls played good team ball and pressure defense."

Jenna Lewis had 16 points and Gina Mitchell had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Lake City (2-0), which hosts Post Falls in its 5A Inland Empire League opener on Tuesday.

Cassie Thompson had 24 points for Timberlake (2-1), which hosts Lakeland on Dec. 2.

HARRISON FLATS - Senior Marah Ashcraft had 14 points to lead the Wildcats past the Warriors in a nonleague game.

"We need to go back and work on the fundamentals," Kootenai coach Mike LaFountaine said. "We're a young team that will get better throughout the season."

Brie Benson had nine rebounds for Kootenai (0-2), which hosts St. Maries on Dec. 2.

McKenna Stewart had seven points for Kellogg (2-1), which hosts Lakeland on Saturday at Andrews Gymnasium.
