Play is this weekend

| November 17, 2010 8:00 PM

"August: Osage County" will be performed at the Lake City Playhouse at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Tracy Letts' darkly comic new play won both a Tony and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2008.

Set in present-day Oklahoma, the play explores three generations of addiction and dysfunction after the patriarch of the Weston family disappears. Left behind are his three adult daughters, their families, and his pill-addicted wife, Violet.

It is a Reader's Theatre production directed by Rebecca McNeill. The cast includes Doug Dawson, Anne Selcoe, Donna Holland, Nina Kelly, Marina Kalani and Jonathon Breitkreutz.

Due to subject matter and language, the play is not recommended for children under 17.

Tickets are $10 at the door or in advance by calling the box office, 667-1323.
